Welcome to Quirk Matter, a unique collection of quantum chromatic tarot cards for divination, play, and whatever purpose comes to you. They promise a novel experience to any user, a strange and surreal journey into the cosmos and the soul with a language all its own.
The designs of these cards are drawn from the meanings of the Rider-Waite-Smith (RWS) tarot deck. The actual symbolism and iconography, on the other hand, is novel by intention, though with overlap in some cases. This was done in order to provide some grounding and structure to the design process, and offer familiarity to the user, while also giving the author space to interpret those meanings in a more personal idiom without overthinking them too much. It is here that the author must confess to being very much new to the world of tarot; I am an outsider in the practice of divination, and came in by way of games, rather than cartomancy. I do not purport to offer deep insights into tarot reading, nor to be a Master of Tarot; I am not one, and have few deep insights of my own.
I nonetheless believe that this “outsider” aspect is no detriment to the creation of this deck, and indeed may have benefitted its creation and symbolism. Because the author is not steeped in the best-known symbology, mythology, and methodology of tarot, the journey from meaning to representation is, as stated already, a much more personal one, even as the Majors and Court Cards use the same names and numbers as the RWS, and all with the same meanings. Thus I believe that my inexperience results in a nice balance of novelty with familiarity.
Whatever their strangeness, the cards are meant to be expressive and emotive and will hopefully speak to the user in a meaningful way—whether that way is different from the author’s intention is irrelevant, and part of the beauty of art and tarot itself.
