The cards comprise one Major suit; four Minor suits, the Swords, Cups, Batons, and Coins; and the Fool, typically grouped among the Majors but considered as semi-separate here. This follows the conventions of the Tarot de Marseille and the Italian decks that predate it. Deviations from the most common RWS-inspired tarot nomenclature will be explained as necessary (you may call them what you like). The descriptions offered below should be considered as a supplement and broad framework, and are by no means absolute in understanding each card. The reversed meanings, in particular, may often sound dour, but consider alternative interpretations beyond simply “opposite of upright”. You are best served by pondering the imagery in each, considering how you respond to each symbol and the overall scene and what they mean to you. What you see in the cards, and how they resonate, may not be included in what is written here.
